Helping Baby Sleep Through the Night – 5 tips 0

A good age for baby to begin to sleep through the night is around 5 or 6 months.  After the growth spurt  that occurs at that age.

A few tips to having this happen are making sure that the baby and their environment are ready for sleep.

My end goal for parenting is to have happy, independent, helpful, productive adults.  And I’m pretty sure the way to achieve that is by having happy, independent, helpful, productive children.

I don’t mean full blown adult versions of these attributes.  I mean the appropriate child-age versions of them.  So, this means that I begin to look for opportunities to expose my children to opportunities to learn these types of attributes. Read the rest of this entry →

Time Together with Friends 1

Do you ever feel lonely despite a barrage of  social media?  I know that I do.  Social media can only go so far to enrich our souls and spirits.

Sure blogging or Facebook or Twitter can add to our sense of connection, but it is no substitute for the joy that friends can bring us.  This has always been the case, even since ancient times.

 

 

 

I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete. 2 John 1:12

In my life I value spending time together with friends.  This passage reminds me that real communication is done in person.  This is what brings us joy.  The joy is only complete when it is shared in person.

Take this time to stop reading my blog, and set up a date with a good friend.  Maybe even drop in on them uninvited, the old fashioned way!  I’m certain it will bring a renewal of energy to your spirit. You can visit here with me another time.

When should children start formal schooling?

As late as possible, according to Canadian psychologist Dr. Gordon Neufeld. A recent article published by the IMFC (Institute of Marriage and Family, Canada)  Dr. Neufeld explains how attachments to peers can cause a plethora of problems which may not be recognized until later in life when the affects of the peer attachment develops.
