Wow, it’s already been 30 days since I embarked on a Primal Blueprint adventure.
While it took some getting used to, I’m happy to report that my adventure into the Primal Blueprint lifestyle has been a large success. I made it 30 days without a cheat day, and have been pleased with my overall health, energy and outlook. And now it’s time for some reflection.
Will I continue? Indeed I will. I believe I’ll factor in some form of “cheat” into my formula though.
I’m in the process of deciding if I’ll have 1 cheat day a week, or a couple of cheat meals a week. It would be nice to be able to enjoy a glass of wine or a piece of cake from time to time. Does anyone have any advice on that? Generally, I think that it really boils down to opportunity. Some social situations make it difficult to stay completely away from grains. I’m thinking I’ll find it hard to say no to birthday cake. But a smaller piece will definitely be in order!
Contributing to my success was the discovery of treat foods like primal avocado chocolate pudding, carrot cake balls (made with dates) and of course my delicious chocolate brownies made from sweet potatoes. Also, I never did give up dark chocolate. And I found a square or two of Lindt 85% dark chocolate was worth the few extra carbs since it satisfied my sweet tooth without starting cravings, and it’s really mostly fat anyway.
And, as far as weight loss goes, I think I’ll continue to approximately monitor my carb intake. Until I get to that ideal weight I’m hoping to target under 100 g of carbohydrates per day on my less active days. I’m not really sure what my ideal weight will be. I have thought before that the weight I am now is only a pound or two away from ideal, but maybe 5 more pounds, we’ll see where I end up. Weight loss total : 8.25 pounds. And a much more consistent body weight. My weight used to fluctuate quite significantly through the month, but that has levelled off.
With Spring on its way, sunshine will become a much more abundant resource, as will exercise in the fresh air. I’m looking forward to the benefits of my increased energy levels and my more streamlined body.
